The K-12 Purpose Summit, now in its fourth year, is an annual journey for educators seeking to dig down into their own purpose, connect with amazing educators, and dream big. This year’s summit will be a six-week hybrid experience that combines virtual sessions before and after a 3-day in-person conference at Chautauqua, a mountain resort at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Boulder, Colorado. Our experience includes inspiring large group time, team huddles for reflection, and one-on-one sessions with a WLS coach. 

At World Leadership School, we believe that “you can’t give away what you don’t own.” We start our journey by doing the hard work ourselves to clarify purpose, build a “purpose map," and share stories that matter with new friends. We then work in small teams, which we call huddles, to keep each other on track personally as we embark on a professional exploration of purpose in learning.

Purpose Learning is the idea that learning in the future will be more than thinking. It will combine thinking with rich forms of feeling (who am I?) and doing (how do I connect?). Using a lens of thinking, feeling, and doing, past educators at our summit have designed a huge array of innovative projects and programs.

The best part of the K12 Purpose Summit is the intimate community: we cap the experience each year at 60 educators, and we have always filled up. Powerful connections are forged. We recruit inspiring, purpose-driven educators from around the world and from a variety of schools: independent, public, and charter. Please join us!

The Process

Clarify our own purpose 
We begin by clarifying our own purpose as teachers and creating a “Purpose Map” to help us navigate work and life with intention. Before we can coach students to discover purpose, we have to do the hard work ourselves. 

Explore the science of purpose
We explore the theory and science of purpose, and understand why purpose helps both adults and students learn deeper, manage stress better, and feel more alive.

Learn from education changemakers
We engage with changemakers pushing the frontiers of purpose-driven learning. Learning in the past was about thinking. Learning of the future combines thinking, feeling, and doing, where students can explore their unique purpose. 

Design and implement your ideas
Working in teams, we create “easy hacks” and “moonshot” ideas. We convert these ideas into tangible work products through participant feedback, and one-on-one sessions with a WLS coach.
